NAMI Billings Overview
This is a 45 to 60-minute mini-presentation providing a broad overview of our services. NAMI Billings exists to offer support groups and education classes for people affected by mental illness. We also educate the community about mental illness and how it impacts every day life. You will undoubtedly walk away with information to share with others, as 1 in 5 families are affected by serious mental illness.
Family & Friends
This is a 2 or 4-hour PowerPoint presentation open to family members and friends of people with mental health conditions as well as the general public. It teaches participants about the warning signs of mental health conditions, treatment option, communication strategies, crisis preparation, coping techniques, and empathy. Each presenter will share their story, and a Q&A will follow.
Ending the Silence
This is a 50-minute interactive presentation that helps teens learn about the warning signs of mental health conditions as well as what steps they should take to find support for themselves or their friends. Teens will have the opportunity to ask questions and gain understanding as 1 in 5 teens ages 13-18 experience a mental health condition in a given year. Through dialoge, we can help grow the movement to end stigma.
In Our Own Voice
This is a 60 to 90-minute presentation led by people living with a mental health condition. These roll models of hope and recovery will share their personal testimonies of living with and overcoming the challenges posed by mental illness. Audience discussion and participation are encouraged, and a brief video will be shared. By broadening people’s knowledge of mental illness, we replace misunderstanding, fear and judgment with insight, awareness and acceptance.
